Next Debate: September 16

Our next Talking With, Not At … Debate & Donuts in partnership with The Allen Theatre in Annville, Pennsylvania, is Wednesday, September 16.

Debate topic is a question: Should there be increased regulation in the US of big technology?

We’re sure at least a bit of the debate will discuss whether Big Technology should be capitalized.

The debate is free and open to the public. In accordance with The Hustings’ ethos, we will conduct a civil debate to be comfortable for all participants regardless of political convictions.

Civil Media v. Social Media

American journalism has been under attack since Google, Meta’s Facebook and Elon Musk’s X-Twitter began sucking advertising profits from traditional fact-based news organizations years ago.

The threat has since grown, as Google’s artificial intelligence search function bypasses traditional news organizations to give readers some sort of answer based on, apparently, an amalgam of various original sources.

At The Hustings we endeavor to fight back against AI social media slop.

If you’re a small, independent fact-based news organization, please contact us to learn how we can work together (without making any structural or financial connection).

If you’re a reader who has an opinion about any of the news we report and aggregate, and/or the commentaries in our right and left columns, we ask you please let social media eat itself and email your comments to The Hustings instead.

The email for readers as well as fellow independent news organizations is: editors@thehustings.news

If you are commenting, please indicate your political leanings (left or right, whether centrist or progressive or MAGA) in the subject line, irrespective of your position in the comments within, so we publish your thoughts in the proper column. –Editors
